Cruising Blog: Maré Island. Our last stop.
Our last stop of this magnificent cruise was to the island paradise of Maré Island which is the second-largest of the Loyalty Islands, in the archipelago of New Caledonia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean.
I couldn’t believe the colour of the water, it was unlike anything I could have imagined. Photos can’t capture the raw beauty of the place, it was unbelievable. The beautiful green of the palm trees and plants can’t be described!
Once we were tendered ashore there were some beautifully dressed locals there to welcome us before we took a bus through the tropical rain forest to a beach called Yejele Beach and oh my goodness – it certainly was paradise. With its crystal clear warm shallow water and coral reef it was perfect for me to go snorkelling and see tropical fish of all colours and sizes, sea turtles and even a snake – although I made sure not to get too close to that!!
Such a relaxing location – a lovely place to rest and soak up the sun before heading home to cooler climes. The best beach I have ever visited

This trip was my first ever cruise and all in all I had the most wonderful time and will most definitely be doing more!
