Paua Scottie Dog Charm - Ariki New Zealand Jewellery

A Scottie Dog and a Teddy Bear – Charms – Vicky’s Blog

As I mentioned in my last blog – we have just recently launched a range of charm bracelets and of course the unique thing about charm bracelets is that you can add your choice of special unique pieces to the bracelet, with that in mind we have also created a range of clip on charms to add to your collection.
These sweet charms are easy to attach and take off your bracelet as they come complete with a “lobster claw” clasp

When I was small my family often played Monopoly and I always choose the Scottie dog as my (hopefully) winning game piece!
Often owned by celebrities, the 32nd president of the USA was Franklin D Roosevelt who had Fala and Meggie. Other USA presidents to have Scotties were Dwight Eisenhower with Telek and George w Bush with Barney and Miss Beazley. I hadn’t realised that David Bowie also had a Scottie.
Our cute wee Scottie Dog Charm is actually modelled on these steadfastly loyal dogs which the “Mother” and “Father” of our Ariki family have owned over the years and they have shared with me a few interesting tit bits of information about them.
Their dogs were all very lovable creatures and were good with small children. They had an Annie, 2 x Haggis, Maggie, Andy, Jeannie (mean Jean the pirate queen!), and James’ Macbeth who was one of Jeannie and Andy’s pups.
With the exception of the first Haggis all lived to 12 to 15 years.
They found them to be very loyal with the females always being the boss even though they were physically smaller than the males.
Thanks to those incredibly short legs, the Scottie is not going to train for a marathon with you — heck, they won’t even go jogging with you — and unfortunately they are not always the best of walking companions as they wanted to sniff around every lamppost which was a pain if one was in any sort of hurry.
Scotties need to be regularly clipped as they can look quite shaggy at times and it is really necessary to do so in summer as their thick black coat does not agree with the heat. “Mum and Dad” owned Scotties for a total of 32 years.
So what a better way to acknowledge this very special breed of dog than to have your very own Scottie Dog charm on your own bracelet.

Since this little chap first appeared in the beginning of the twentieth century, when it was originally named after former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, who was commonly known as “Teddy” (though he loathed being referred to as such) people have cuddled it for comfort, kept it with them for luck and I am sure used it as a confidant and a friend.
To most children, a teddy bear represents love and security, especially when Mummy and or Daddy tuck them in, kiss them goodnight, and they are alone in their bed.
Teddy bears make us feel warm and loved and always evoke fond memories of childhood – we can’t help but love them even as we ourselves get older. I would have to say a teddy bear represents love and security for everyone, young, or old
Our wee Teddy bear charm with his round belly adorned with Paua Shell will make an adorable addition to your charm bracelet and is sure to remind you of all of these valuable virtues.

Paua Anchor/Porthole Charm - Ariki New Zealand Jewellery

Cruise Ship, Porthole and Palm Tree Charms – Vicky’s Blog

As I mentioned in my last blog – we have just recently launched a range of charm bracelets and of course the unique thing about charm bracelets is that you can add your choice of special unique pieces to the bracelet, with that in mind we have also created a range of clip on charms to add to your collection.
These sweet charms are easy to attach and take off your bracelet as they come complete with a “lobster claw” clasp

I have recently experienced this amazingly awesome way to travel – cruising on a ship around the Pacific Ocean.
Cruise ships are becoming more and more popular around the globe by those wanting to enjoy a stress free, relaxing way to travel. Here in New Zealand alone the number of cruise ships visiting our shores has steadily increased to the point where there were more than 259,000 cruise ship passengers visiting our beautiful country over the past year.
Everything you could want is provided on these “floating cities” with all your accommodation, meals, and entertainment sorted ideally! With the added advantage of visiting new and interesting countries without having to fly or drive yourself, you really can have the holiday you dreamed about.
What a perfect way to remember these special journeys, to have a cute wee Cruise Ship Charm or a Ship Wheel Charm to attach to your bracelet.

An anchor is a heavy weight that holds a ship in place. Remaining firm and steadfast amid the uncertainty of storms and the elements, an anchor symbolizes such concepts as firmness, tranquillity and hope.
Anchors are all about being strong and stable. No matter if you have sea legs or not, you can appreciate the deeper meaning of the anchor symbol – security, stability, and being grounded. It is a symbol demonstrating that a person is in tune with themselves and hold on to the values they believe in. The anchor can also represent a person who has been someone’s rock through difficult times. For some people, the anchor represents always having a safe place to go home to.
So our precious unique Anchor and Porthole charm may be purchased to symbolise all of these things or as a special memory of a time spent at sea gazing at a beautiful view from your port hole.

Palm trees evoke pleasant memories of good times spent whiling away sun filled days and relaxing vacations on golden sandy beaches with their fronds bursting out of the top of the tall majestic trunks like the rays of the sun or an expansive fireworks display. Our stunning Palm tree charm can be worn as a reminder of these idyllic times.

Paua Heart Charm Bracelet - Ariki New Zealand Jewellery

Charm Bracelets – New range (Vicky’s Blog

Created from either 22 carat gold plated or palladium chain links our charm bracelets are a perfect way to build a collection of special pieces and memories to take with you wherever you go.

We have produced a range of four charm bracelets to start your collection and each bracelet comes complete with one gorgeous Paua Shell charm already attached.

The eternal symbol of love – The beautiful Paua Shell heart on our elegant timeless piece of jewellery symbolises the love of many things – including those for whom we may purchase it.

New Zealand Paua is considered the rarest and most beautiful in the world and is loved and treasured by all that may wear it.

Sea turtles have roamed the Earth’s oceans for the last 100 million years. But sea turtle populations are now on the decline.

We have produced an elegant piece of jewellery to immortalise these precious creatures of the sea. I was blessed enough to see one of these majestic creatures myself recently when I snorkelled in the crystal clear waters of New Caledonia and they certainly are a sight to behold.

The Kiwi is a native flightless bird unique to New Zealand – just as unique as our beautiful Paua.

It is widely known as an iconic symbol of our country as well as being the colloquial name fondly given to all New Zealanders.  Our cute wee Kiwi jewellery piece symbolises our national pride and is truly treasured by all that wear it.

What a perfect way to honour this pride and memories of our beautiful country by wearing the cute wee Kiwi Charm on your bracelet.

The kangaroo is a marsupial with large, powerful hind legs, large feet adapted for leaping, a long muscular tail for balance, and a small head.

These animals native to Australia, are the unofficial symbol for the country.

Charm Bracelets

Our beautiful piece of jewellery may be worn with pride by both Australians and those who have visited this beautiful country and seen this majestic animal for themselves.

Christmas New Zealand

Our big news this year is that he is having a baby sister!!! My darling daughter is due to have a wee girl in early January 2019 so by the time I speak to you again I will be a grandmother for a second time and can’t wait to share photos of my wee princess.

So until then – I wish you a very happy, safe and peaceful holiday season wherever you may be around the globe!

My Paua Shell Christmas tree has had an addition this year – a topping wreath constructed of even more Paua Shell and an extra special species of Paua called Queen Paua.
These creamy white Paua are another species native to the waters of New Zealand.
I have the tree covered in solar lights in blue and white this year and it truly is beautiful to see on our clear, warm summer nights.

Paua Shell Christmas Tree

Christmas Gifts: butterly jewellery, diamond and myriad pendants.

I can never limit myself to just a few pieces of our unique New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery – I love to tell you all about the special pieces and their meanings. They have actually taken on special unique meanings to me personally and to those for whom I purchase them – each piece captures a special moment in time – a memory perhaps, or a significant occasion. Some of these I will tell you about below:

PE181/PE281 – Butterfly Earrings
PO716/GP716 – Butterfly Brooch – Large

Butterfly earring new zealand

Butterflies remind us of summer, freedom and happiness – nothing says this more than seeing a beautiful butterfly on a hot summer’s day fluttering carefree and effortlessly through the air. Wearing our beautiful butterfly jewellery piece will give you a sense of these lazy hazy summer days.
But to me personally the butterfly also signifies the beginning of the New Year and signals a sense of transformation – a time to evaluate life in its current state and set goals for manifesting change. The butterfly symbolizes transformation and joy. Its dance reflects the need for movement from where we are to our next phase of being. A perfect gift for someone who is contemplating changes in their life.

PO800/GP800 – Diamond Pendant
PE100/PE200 – Diamond Earrings
SE12 – Diamond Earrings – Sterling Silver

Diamond Shaped Earrings

The Diamond, in its rarity and beauty, is a symbol of purity and innocence, of love and fidelity, and embraces strength of character, ethics, and faithfulness to oneself and others. We have stylised our gorgeous diamond shaped Paua Shell jewellery piece to embrace these characteristics.

Christmas and New Year are perfect times to honour those most precious people in your life and to give a token of your affection to show them your love, as a memento of your special relationships.

PO802/GP802 – Myriad Pendant

I have left the best until last – My most absolute favourite in our New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery Collection – this gorgeous large oval pendant showcases the myriad of iridescent colours of the Paua Shell or “sea opal” to perfection. It reminds me so much of the colours of gorgeous country of New Zealand and the Ocean surrounding our island nation.
I wear this beautiful piece of jewellery with pride for industry in which I am lucky enough to be a part of and to me it symbolises all that makes Ariki New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery precious and unique.
