Treble clef pendant and fur Elise pendant: for the love of music
Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.

My dearest precious Mother has been involved in the music industry for most of her 84 years of life. She has passed her passion onto thousands of people across these years by teaching music to students of all ages.
Her ability to play the piano so well that I can actually hear it sing never ceases to leave me in awe. Unfortunately her gift was not one which I managed to acquire. But she has instilled in myself and my seven siblings a love for all music.
For me, music is like my language to my soul and my spirit. Its ability to set any mood is unsurpassed. It’s pure magic.
Here at my Ariki New Zealand we have a small range of unique Paua Shell jewellery to pay homage to music and wearing any of these special pieces reminds me of my darling mother.
Fur Elise Pendant
Written by one of the greatest and most radical composers of all time for the love of his life. “Fur Elise” is world renown as one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s most popular compositions.
The song was written for a lady called Therese (nicknamed Elise) that Beethoven wanted to marry in 1810 unfortunately it is a store of unrequited love as Therese did not want to marry him.
The piece of music, which was written for the piano, was not published until 1865, a long time after Beethoven’s death. It is one of the most well-known pieces of piano music in the world. Many of my mother’s aspiring pianists wanted to learn to play it.
I myself listen to it regularly in my car as I travel around our majestic countryside. The different tones can be bouncy uplifting, melodic – and lush to the senses. I especially like any version played on a piano as it reminds me so much of my mother’s talented ability to play this beautiful classical piece of music.
Our beautiful piece of fine jewellery immortalises this piece of music as well as honouring love everlasting.
Treble Clef Pendant
Music is truly a gift to be shared. It can be soothing, uplifting, invigorating, exciting and in fact can bring about practically every emotion.
Wearing the cute wee treble clef pendant reminds me of my mother’s life’s work, her passion for music, and she is well known for passing this passion on through her teaching over the years as well as through her other “baby” The New Zealand Modern School of Music.
The NZ Modern School of Music was established by the late Allan Gardiner of Blenheim around 1952. After many years of playing classical music and travelling with his dance band, Allan Gardiner developed his method of modern piano playing.
He was asked to teach his method to local children and from this small beginning he became the principal of a private music training school that now has branches throughout New Zealand.
My mother purchased the school over forty years ago now and has since dedicated herself to ensuring thousands and thousands of pupils receive the very best tuition. NZ Modern School of Music has its own teaching material including modern style piano tuition books. These books are only available from NZ Modern School of Music through my mother, provided to teachers and are not available in music stores. Their teaching style is very creative and emphasis is put on improvisation and creative work.
At the age of 84 her ability to keep this business thriving never ceases to amaze me…. She is just awe inspiring and I am extremely proud.
Just as I am proud of the quality and workmanship of our unique New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery. Including our cute wee treble clef pendant symbolising the gift which can be a soundtrack to our lives.
