Sint Maarten/Saint Martin – Taking our Paua Shell Jewellery to the world
Sint Maarten, part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is a country on the southern part of a Caribbean island shared with Saint Martin, a French overseas collectivity. Its natural features span lagoons, beaches and salt pans. The capital, Philipsburg, has cobblestone streets and colourful, colonial-style buildings lining its Front Street shopping area.
On top of that, its home to a variety of plants and animal species including the largest collection of butterflies in the Caribbean. All this combined with the varying cultures of its inhabitants makes it the perfect cruise destination in the Antilles.
The island of-Saint Martin is the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two different nations. Only 37 square miles are governed by France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (where Dutch Sint Maarten is an independent country within the Kingdom).
As hard to believe as it may be, St. Maarten/St. Martin has thirty-seven beaches on its thirty-seven square miles!
Sea Turtles are one of everyone’s favourite marine animals. Whether it is because of their unique lives and capabilities, or simply because they are just so darn cute is hard to say.
They are lucky enough to have a healthy turtle population living around the island of St. Maarten/St-Martin. There are four different species that can be spotted in these waters. The two most common are the Green and Hawksbill turtles along with the less easily found Leatherback and Loggerheads.
It is no wonder then that our most popular product exported to this beautiful kingdom is the:
GP547 Paua Sea turtle Pendant Sea turtles have roamed the Earth’s oceans for the last 100 million years. But sea turtle populations are now on the decline. We have produced an elegant piece of jewellery to immortalise these precious creatures of the sea.
