A Scottie Dog and a Teddy Bear – Charms
As I mentioned in my last blog – we have just recently launched a range of charm bracelets and of course the unique thing about charm bracelets is that you can add your choice of special unique pieces to the bracelet, with that in mind we have also created a range of clip on charms to add to your collection.
These sweet charms are easy to attach and take off your bracelet as they come complete with a “lobster claw” clasp
GCH15/PCH15– SCOTTIE DOG CHARM
When I was small my family often played Monopoly and I always choose the Scottie dog as my (hopefully) winning game piece!
Often owned by celebrities, the 32nd president of the USA was Franklin D Roosevelt who had Fala and Meggie. Other USA presidents to have Scotties were Dwight Eisenhower with Telek and George w Bush with Barney and Miss Beazley. I hadn’t realised that David Bowie also had a Scottie.
Our cute wee Scottie Dog Charm is actually modelled on these steadfastly loyal dogs which the “Mother” and “Father” of our Ariki family have owned over the years and they have shared with me a few interesting tit bits of information about them.
Their dogs were all very lovable creatures and were good with small children. They had an Annie, 2 x Haggis, Maggie, Andy, Jeannie (mean Jean the pirate queen!), and James’ Macbeth who was one of Jeannie and Andy’s pups.
With the exception of the first Haggis all lived to 12 to 15 years.
They found them to be very loyal with the females always being the boss even though they were physically smaller than the males.
Thanks to those incredibly short legs, the Scottie is not going to train for a marathon with you — heck, they won’t even go jogging with you — and unfortunately they are not always the best of walking companions as they wanted to sniff around every lamppost which was a pain if one was in any sort of hurry.
Scotties need to be regularly clipped as they can look quite shaggy at times and it is really necessary to do so in summer as their thick black coat does not agree with the heat. “Mum and Dad” owned Scotties for a total of 32 years.
So what a better way to acknowledge this very special breed of dog than to have your very own Scottie Dog charm on your own bracelet.
GCH06/PCH06– TEDDY BEAR CHARM
Since this little chap first appeared in the beginning of the twentieth century, when it was originally named after former United States President Theodore Roosevelt, who was commonly known as “Teddy” (though he loathed being referred to as such) people have cuddled it for comfort, kept it with them for luck and I am sure used it as a confidant and a friend.
To most children, a teddy bear represents love and security, especially when Mummy and or Daddy tuck them in, kiss them goodnight, and they are alone in their bed.
Teddy bears make us feel warm and loved and always evoke fond memories of childhood – we can’t help but love them even as we ourselves get older. I would have to say a teddy bear represents love and security for everyone, young, or old
Our wee Teddy bear charm with his round belly adorned with Paua Shell will make an adorable addition to your charm bracelet and is sure to remind you of all of these valuable virtues.
