Cruising Blog: Noumea, New Caledonia

Noumea, New Caledonia

Our first port of call was the city of Noumea – the capital and largest city of New Caledonia, it is situated on a protected deep water harbour which serves as the main port for New Caledonia.
My first impression as I stood on the balcony of my cabin was that it was a very bustling noisy city but the native people waiting on the wharf were extremely friendly as they welcomed the over 2000 of us “cruiselings” ashore.
There was several market stalls selling all manner of beautiful clothing, jewellery and trinkets made by the locals as we made our way to the “train”, to begin our tour of the city.
As we wound our way through the palm tree lined streets with beautiful golden beaches, crystal clear aqua waters and the azure blue sky I was reminded me of our gorgeous palm tree pendant. The Paua Shell Cabochon reflecting the very same colours as the vista I was seeing.

After spending the day in the sunshine soaking up the sights of this sophisticated provincial French town with the friendly charms, and heavenly climate of the pacific islands we boarded the ship again ready to sail off to our next destination.

Cruising Blog – August 2018

I am so excited to tell you all about my latest adventure!! I have recently spent ten days cruising on a ship around the Pacific Ocean!!!!

It was absolutely awesome from start to finish!!

Cruise Ships Jewelry

My adventure began with a plane trip from Blenheim to Auckland where I stayed with my Brother, his wife and family. So great to meet with them and enjoy their awesome hospitality and a lovely evening meal.

The next day my partner and I had a look around the harbour district in the Auckland Viaduct and I was pleased to see a display of Ariki New Zealand Jewellery in one of the stores – it looked so beautiful and filled me with pride to see the tourists to New Zealand buzzing around the display.

Then it was time to board the ship – “The Pacific Jewel” at 245.08 m (804 ft. 1 in) long, and 12 decks this magnificent ship towered over us as we stood on the wharf The evening was calm and sunny as we cruised across the Harbour and out into the Pacific Ocean. Leaving the “City of Sails” as Auckland city is affectionately known far behind us.

Please follow this blog in the upcoming weeks.

Christmas New Zealand

Our big news this year is that he is having a baby sister!!! My darling daughter is due to have a wee girl in early January 2019 so by the time I speak to you again I will be a grandmother for a second time and can’t wait to share photos of my wee princess.

So until then – I wish you a very happy, safe and peaceful holiday season wherever you may be around the globe!

My Paua Shell Christmas tree has had an addition this year – a topping wreath constructed of even more Paua Shell and an extra special species of Paua called Queen Paua.
These creamy white Paua are another species native to the waters of New Zealand.
I have the tree covered in solar lights in blue and white this year and it truly is beautiful to see on our clear, warm summer nights.

Christmas Gifts: words to say “I love you”

There are so many different ways to say “I love you” and to share the love. In fact, there are more words for “love” than there are languages in the world. For those who mean the most to us – our lovers, partners, soul mates, companion, and sweethearts – those for whom we hold dearest. Whatever title we choose to lavish upon them – We should tell these people all year round how much we love them – but what a perfect time of year to immortalise this love with a treasured piece of fine New Zealand Jewellery.

PO590/GP590 – Eternity Pendant
PE390/PE290 – Eternity Earrings

Traditionally the symbolic meaning of gifting an eternity ring related to eternal love. The eternity ring’s circular shape refers to a lasting love that will continue forever and is usually given to mark a special occasion or simply as a romantic gift. Eternity rings are a popular way of showing appreciation and devotion to another person.

Ariki New Zealand have created their very own set of eternity jewellery with this perfect matching set of pendant and earrings.

A sphere within a sphere our beautiful eternity symbol lends itself to the feeling of never ending time and motion as it curls around the precious Paua Shell cabochon. A truly timeless piece of jewellery which would make the perfect gift for any loved one.

Heart Earrings

Historically magicians and alchemists would use heart symbols for incantations pertaining to matters related to love and romance. The symbol was also used in rituals with a goal to strengthen relationships.

Also an emblem of truth, the “Sacred Heart” of Christ is also the focus of Roman Catholic worship as a symbol of the Lord’s love. As a graphic representation of an inverted triangle, this symbolizes a vessel in which love is poured or carried.

The heart symbol has evolved over the centuries for today, the heart symbol best expresses LOVE on all levels. True enough today, the heart symbol is widely recognised not only as a symbol of love but of compassion, joy, and charity.

Ariki New Zealand creators of fine handcrafted New Zealand Jewellery have designed some exquisite pieces to honour this eternal symbol of love – The beautiful Paua Shell heart on our elegant timeless pieces of jewellery symbolises the love of many things – including those for whom we may purchase it.

New Zealand Paua is considered the rarest and most beautiful in the world and is loved by all that may wear it.

Christmas Gifts: butterly jewellery, diamond and myriad pendants.

I can never limit myself to just a few pieces of our unique New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery – I love to tell you all about the special pieces and their meanings. They have actually taken on special unique meanings to me personally and to those for whom I purchase them – each piece captures a special moment in time – a memory perhaps, or a significant occasion. Some of these I will tell you about below:

PE181/PE281 – Butterfly Earrings
PO716/GP716 – Butterfly Brooch – Large

Butterfly earring new zealand

Butterflies remind us of summer, freedom and happiness – nothing says this more than seeing a beautiful butterfly on a hot summer’s day fluttering carefree and effortlessly through the air. Wearing our beautiful butterfly jewellery piece will give you a sense of these lazy hazy summer days.
But to me personally the butterfly also signifies the beginning of the New Year and signals a sense of transformation – a time to evaluate life in its current state and set goals for manifesting change. The butterfly symbolizes transformation and joy. Its dance reflects the need for movement from where we are to our next phase of being. A perfect gift for someone who is contemplating changes in their life.

PO800/GP800 – Diamond Pendant
PE100/PE200 – Diamond Earrings
SE12 – Diamond Earrings – Sterling Silver

Diamond Shaped Earrings

The Diamond, in its rarity and beauty, is a symbol of purity and innocence, of love and fidelity, and embraces strength of character, ethics, and faithfulness to oneself and others. We have stylised our gorgeous diamond shaped Paua Shell jewellery piece to embrace these characteristics.

Christmas and New Year are perfect times to honour those most precious people in your life and to give a token of your affection to show them your love, as a memento of your special relationships.

PO802/GP802 – Myriad Pendant

I have left the best until last – My most absolute favourite in our New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery Collection – this gorgeous large oval pendant showcases the myriad of iridescent colours of the Paua Shell or “sea opal” to perfection. It reminds me so much of the colours of gorgeous country of New Zealand and the Ocean surrounding our island nation.
I wear this beautiful piece of jewellery with pride for industry in which I am lucky enough to be a part of and to me it symbolises all that makes Ariki New Zealand Paua Shell Jewellery precious and unique.
